Father Thomas Zhao KeXun, 75, administrator of the Diocese of Xuanhua, in Hebei province, was released June 1, according to the Cardinal Kung Foundation. KeXun was arrested on March 30 (click here for details). At the time, no reason was given for his arrest.

The following month, large numbers of police surrounded the main church building in Wenzhou, setting up barricades to block any views of the worship facility. Church Members Charged for Hosting Sunday School

Authorities accused the believers of fraud and "organizing minors to engage in activities undermining public order." The alleged "crime" leading to these charges was hosting a children's Sunday school program and allowing families to worship together as a church.
