La Voix des Martyrs Canada vous invite à participer à son concours annuel d’art visuel. Celui-ci permet à des artistes de tous les niveaux de créer des représentations visuelles d’une paix parfaite selon la perspective de nos frères et sœurs persécutés dans la foi, malgré la croix qu’ils portent et la souffrance qu’ils subissent. Les détails paraissent ci-dessous.

Susanna Koh

On Feb. 13, 2017, Susanna’s husband, Pastor Raymond Koh, was abducted off the streets of Malaysia. Nearby security cameras captured the entire crime. Raymond hasn’t been seen or heard from since the abduction, and his car has never been found. Years prior to his abduction, Raymond and Susanna received a death threat after holding a celebration dinner in a church to thank supporters of their charity, Harapan Komuniti, meaning Hope Community. The dinner was raided by police and religious authorities, who had received a tip that the Christians were sharing the gospel with Muslims in attendance.

Helen Berhane

Helen Berhane, a gospel singer and Bible teacher, was arrested and imprisoned in her home country of Eritrea, where the totalitarian government seeks to control every aspect of its citizens’ lives. She spent 32 months locked in a shipping container without adequate ventilation, light, sanitation or food. And she endured severe torture, which almost killed her and left her unable to walk. When Helen was released in 2006, she fled the country and was later granted asylum in Denmark, where she recovered from her injuries.

Anita Smith

In 2011, Ronnie, Anita and their young son moved to Libya shortly after the overthrow of the country’s dictator, Muammar Qadhafi. Ronnie worked as a high school chemistry teacher in Benghazi, where his students nicknamed him “Libya’s best friend.” But in December 2013, Ronnie was shot to death during a late-morning jog. Anita received worldwide media attention after writing a letter forgiving her husband’s attackers.

Gracia Burnham

For 17 years, Martin and Gracia Burnham served as missionaries in the Philippines with New Tribes Mission (now called Ethnos360). In 2001, they were taken hostage by militant Muslims and held captive for 376 days. Martin, an experienced jungle pilot who delivered mail and supplies in the region, was killed during a rescue attempt, while Gracia survived and was rescued from her captors. Today, Gracia travels widely to speak about her time in captivity. She is a New York Times bestselling author of two books, In the Presence of My Enemies and To Fly Again.
